Living in one of Ontario’s apple growing regions has it’s benefits…. namely the close proximity to so many amazingly delicious hard apple ciders. Cool, crisp, bubbly cider is the ultimate refreshing drink on a hot summer day (especially after working in front of a glass furnace all day)!
Now that the weather is turning cooler, I’ve been trying out different cocktail recipes using local cider to pair with our signature hexagon glasses. These colourful glasses are transparent, so they show off the colour and texture of the drinks beautifully. I have been really enjoying the Cranberry Apple Cider Cocktail. I found it here, but read on…. I have included it below with some additional notes.
Cranberry Apple Cider Cocktail
YIELD: 1 cocktail
2 ounces cranberry juice
1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice, strained
1 ounce vodka
1 bottle hard cider, chilled (I use Thornbury Cider)
apple slice for garnish
Fill glass and cocktail shaker with ice. Add cranberry juice, orange juice and vodka to the cocktail shaker and shake until chilled. Strain into ice filled glass. Top off the glass with the hard cider and garnish with apple slice. Sip and enjoy!
This cocktail is delightfully tart and refreshing. It could be sweetened by using cranberry cocktail instead of pure cranberry juice, or by using a sweeter cider such as Reinhart’s Red Apple Light Cider.
Now that you’re thirsty, it’s time to browse through our online selection of handblown glass hexagon glasses to snag the perfect one for your Cranberry Apple Cider Cocktail. Cheers!
