Our copper scoops are waxed to maintain their finish using a food safe mixture of beeswax, carnauba wax and mineral oil. Copper scoops should only be used for dry goods such as salt, spices, herbs, ground coffee and tea leaves. Do not use your scoop with acidic food or hot liquids.

When required, hand wash and dry immediately. The wax finish will eventually wears off after multiple washings and the copper will naturally oxidize over time causing it to darken. You can choose to keep it bright and shiny with a homemade cleaning paste.
Dissolve 1/2tsp salt into 1/4c vinegar, and add flour until the mixture becomes a paste. Rub into the metal, leave for about 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and buff dry.
